The Purpose of this document is to aid customers of On-Site / SurfNJ who are wishing to use our Internet access services. These instructions should make it much easier to configure the software so that an Internet connection can be established. While we do not guarantee that your all software will work, we can guarantee that we will try and help you find a solution for getting you connected through us.
SET UP FOR INTERNET CHAMELEON
1. Turn on computer
2. Boot up and enter Windows
3. Insert Chameleon Disk #1 into floppy drive
4. From Windows Desktop choose FILE/RUN
type: a:\setup.exe or b:\setup.exe (as applicable)
5. Enter Serial Number and Key Code when requested (this information is found on the
Internet Chameleon Quick Start Card)
6. When done Press CONTINUE
7. Install all 3 disks following the prompts provided.When installation is complete, open
the INTERNET CHAMELEON group.
8. Double click on the CUSTOM ICON
9. Double click on INTERFACE/ADD.
10. For name Enter On-Site / SurfNJ
11. Set type to PPP (all uppercase)
12. Press OK
13. On the Menu Bar Press SETUP
14. Click on HOST NAME and enter a name for your computer (choose any name you wish)
15. Press OK
16. Select SETUP/DOMAIN NAME
17. Enter On-Site / SurfNJ.net (all lower case)
18 Press OK
19. Press SETUP/PORT
20. Select Baud Rates which match your computer's modem
Data Bits = 8; Stop Bits = 1; Parity = none
Hardware Flow Control should be selected
21. Set connector to proper com port
22. Press OK
23. Select from SETUP again then MODEM
24. Choose a modem style that most closely matches yours.
25. Press OK
26. Select SETUP/DIAL
27. Enter appropriate On-Site / SurfNJ dialup number
Note: If you have call waiting it can be disabled by prefacing the dialup number with
*70,
28. Press OK
29. Select SETUP/LOGIN
30. Enter your User Name and Password in appropriate fields.
31. Startup command should be PPP (all uppercase)
32 Press OK
33. From the menu Select SERVICES/DOMAIN SERVERS
34. Select 1st field and Enter 205.197.048.008 (Your curser should be on 1st field of 2nd
line)
35. Enter 205.197.048.009
36. Press OK
Note: only 2 lines will be filled, line 3 will be all zeros.
37. Press OK
38. Select SERVICES/HOST TABLE
39 Under Official Name Enter solar.On-Site / SurfNJ.net (all lower case)
40 Select ADD and Enter the following Internet Address: 205.197.048.008
41. Under ALIAS Enter ftp.On-Site / SurfNJ.net (all lower case)
42. Select ADD then OK
43. Enter 2nd OFFICIAL NAME of lunar.On-Site / SurfNJ.net (all lower case)
44. Press ADD
45. Enter Internet Address: 205.197.048.009
46. Enter ALIAS of news.On-Site / SurfNJ.net (all lower case)
47. Press ADD/OK/SAVE
48. Press FILE/SAVE
Your custom configuration is now complete
Close Custom Window
Single Click on AUTO INTERNET ICON
Press DELETE to remove it from group as you will not use this program
TO CONFIGURE INTERNET CHAMELEON'S MAIL
1. Double click on MAIL icon
2. Select OK when prompted with Mail Login User Name: Postmaster
3. Select SERVICES then MAILBOXES from the Menu Bar
4. Enter On-Site / SurfNJ user name (all lowercase)
5. Press ADD
6. Press OK
7. When prompted to Create Directory select YES
8. Close Mailbox Window saving changes
9. Close Mail Postmaster Window
10 Double click Mail again
11. Press OK
12. Select SETTINGS/NETWORK/MAIL GATEWAY
13. For HOST press down arrow and select mail.On-Site / SurfNJ.net
14. Select SETTINGS/NETWORK/SERVER
15. For HOST press down arrow and select lunar.On-Site / SurfNJ.net
16. Complete user and password fields with your On-Site / SurfNJ user name and password.
Mail Directory remains blank
Delete retrieved mail from server should be checked
17. Press OK
18. Select SETTINGS/PREFERENCES/ADVANCED
19. Enter your user name@On-Site / SurfNJ.net (all lowercase)
20. Press OK then OK again
21. Select FILE then EXIT and save when requested.
TO START CONNECTION
1. Close Windows and reboot computer
2. Re-enter Windows
3. Select INTERNET CHAMELEON group
4. Double click CUSTOM CONNECT icon
5. Select CONNECT
Once the connection has been created, minimize the program.
